Medicare Safety Net

The Medicare safety net ensures that Australian’s are protected against very large medical bills and for IVF patients this provides significant financial support. Safety net accrual commences in January each year and once the threshold is reached, Medicare will pay 80% of the out of pocket medical costs provided out of hospital. In order to claim this benefit, couples and families must be registered with Medicare. It is important to check with Medicare that you are registered before commencing any fertility treatment.
