Is the “His & Hers Fertility Package” right for you?

The “His & Hers Fertility Package” has been designed for couples who have been trying to fall pregnant for more than six months, and want to discover how they can increase their chance of conceiving with personalised advice from a Fertility Specialist.

Causes of pregnancy delay are many and varied and can involve male, female or a combination of factors. They include problems with:

  • the production of sperm or eggs
  • the structure or function of male or female reproductive systems; and/or
  • hormonal and immune conditions in both men and women

The “His and Hers Fertility Package” assesses these factors and will help you make smart, informed decisions about your own path to pregnancy, and to once again feel good about your journey to parenthood.

What does the “His & Hers Fertility Package” include?

The “His & Hers Fertility Package” offers comprehensive fertility investigations for BOTH partners and and two appointments with a leading Sunshine Coast Fertility Specialist, who will carefully interpret your test results and provide you with a personalised pregnancy plan.

“Her” Fertility Tests

AMH blood test: Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) is a hormone secreted by cells in developing egg sacs (follicles). The level of AMH in a woman's blood is generally a good indicator of her ovarian reserve. An AMH test will provide insight into the remaining quantity of eggs and number of fertile years you may have. It can help determine if your fertility levels are declining, but it does not assess the quality of your eggs.

Pelvis Ultrasound Assessment: Conducted at your Specialist consultation – this is a safe and painless procedure that assesses the condition of the cervix, uterus and ovaries, while checking for any abnormalities present such as Fibroids, Polyps or Endometriosis in the ovary.

Reproductive hormone blood tests: To identify common cases of ovulation dysfunction including blood tests for oestrogen, luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH).

“His” Fertility Tests

Semen Analysis: This evaluates the amount and quality of a man’s semen and it is the most important male fertility test. Analysis includes measuring the number of sperm, their motility (ability to move), their morphology (size and shape), and the volume and consistency of the ejaculated sample.

“His and Her” Fertility Tests

Karyotyping – chromosome analysis: Karyotype analysis determines the number of chromosomes in the cells and whether there are any pieces of chromosomal material that are missing, extra or rearranged. Sometimes even if you are healthy you can still carry a variation from the normal chromosome number and arrangement and this may have implications for your fertility. Karyotype testing on both partners provides extremely useful information in determining both the cause of infertility and the most appropriate treatment.

Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH): Thyroid function has a profound impact on overall health, including sexual and reproductive health. Normal thyroid function is needed to both achieve and maintain a pregnancy.

Infectious Diseases: Having an infectious disease can contribute to a couples infertility. Additionally many infections can also potentially be passed on to the baby and jeopardise their health. Testing includes rubella, varicella, hepatitis B and C, syphilis and HIV.

Your personalised pregnancy plan

Once your tests results are in, you will then meet with a QFG Fertility Specialist who will carefully explain your results.

Many couples will get “the all clear” and your Specialist will recommend some natural ways to boost your fertility. For others, the results may indicate reasons that have contributed to a delay in conceiving. In this case, your Specialist will discuss ways to focus on or solve those issues at this early stage.

This might include some further investigations or perhaps treatments, depending on your individual circumstances and preferences.

Your personalised pregnancy plan will mean that, as a couple, you’ll be adequately informed about your individual circumstances and able to make the best decisions about your path to parenthood.
