Queensland Fertility Group provides world-class fertility treatment, including IVF and ICSI. Our treatments and services are backed by extensive scientific research and specialist training to ensure we provide attentive and holistic care to our patients.
Below is a table showing the estimated out-of-pocket IVF or ICSI cycle costs for a couple (assuming they are eligible for Medicare rebates).
Figures quoted are estimates only. These costs include additional services such as:
- Treatment cycle support by the very experienced QFG team of nurses, counsellors and scientists
- Standard laboratory scientific techniques and tests such as ultrasounds scans and blood tests throughout the treatment cycle

Some patients may receive a quoted fee from Queensland Fertility Group that includes a specialist planning and management fee. Individual fees will be provided before treatment begins.
Bulk billing and health fund cover
If IVF is the right treatment option for you, your IVF or ICSI treatment cycle fee is eligible for Medicare rebates and excludes:
- Fertility Specialist consultations
- Medications
- Day surgery fees
- Any coordination fees associated with our Donor Program
- Any additional testing fees such as PGT
Day surgery fees are usually only covered by private health insurance, not Medicare. This could include egg collection and embryo transfer for IVF and ICSI treatments. Your private health fund will be able to tell you what you are covered for.
When comparing IVF cycle fees between clinics, it is important that you check which costs are included. Additional fees will be charged by your treating fertility specialist for procedures, and there will be costs associated with private hospital and anaesthetist fees.

Electronic Funds Transfer
Patients can make payment by transferring funds directly into the Queensland Fertility Group bank account via direct transfer. There are no fees applicable to direct transfer.
BPAY
Patients can make payment for their treatment via BPAY. BPAY details will be on the second page of your treatment invoice, simply follow the steps provided to submit payment via BPAY. There are no fees applicable to payments made via BPAY.
Debit and Credit Card
Patients are able to make payment for their treatment by debit or credit card (Mastercard, VISA, AMEX). This can be done online via our secure Westpac portal. Please note that a payment surcharge is applicable on all debit and credit card transactions. Details for setting up payment via our secure online portal will be provided on the treatment quote.
Accessing your superannuation for IVF treatment
We understand for many couples, finding the funds to cover their IVF treatment can be challenging.
In Australia, it is possible to access your superannuation funds early for compassionate reasons, including paying for medical treatment for specific conditions. The circumstances in which you can access your super are very limited; a description of these circumstances can be found on the Australian Taxation Office website. Note: you need to do this prior to undergoing treatment, it cannot be done retrospectively.
Queensland Fertility Group is not involved in determining whether or not you are eligible to access your super fund early. You will need to apply for this directly to the Department of Human Services or through SuperCare.
Accessing your superannuation via the Department of Human Services
To apply via the Department of Human Services, you will need to:
- Complete an online application (via an existing myGov account, or by creating a new account)
- Confirm your identity
- Provide a report from your Medical Specialist
- Provide all other documents as described in the online application

Is IVF free in Queensland?
IVF treatment cycle costs are not free in Queensland, although costs depend on the level of coverage from your private health insurance and your Medicare threshold.
How much will my first appointment cost?
If you are specifically seeking help to fall pregnant, it is recommended your partner attends the consultation as well. The initial consultation charge with a Fertility Specialist is on average from $220 to $350 and Medicare will reimburse approximately $75.00. Most Queensland Fertility Group Fertility Specialists offer bulk billing for a male partner’s first appointment.
What should I expect in my first appointment?
Typically, during your first appointment, your specialist will assess your medical history, and will most likely recommend investigations such as blood tests (many of these are bulk-billed), a semen analysis and/or ultrasound tests. The results of these investigations will help you and your Fertility Specialist determine the next best steps for your individual circumstances. You should feel comfortable to ask questions and mention any concerns you may have.
Before you attend your appointment, you will need to obtain a referral from your GP (for both you and your partner) in order to be eligible for Medicare rebates.
There are many treatment options available to you at QFG. Based on your history and investigations, your Fertility Specialist will recommend the best course of treatment for you; this may include lifestyle changes to improve your chances of conceiving naturally, low-cost ovulation induction and cycle tracking, or minimally invasive options like artificial insemination. Many of our patients do not require IVF in order to achieve a pregnancy.
Is IVF covered by Medicare Australia?
Yes, Medicare Australia covers some of the costs of IVF treatments. Learn about the Medicare Safety Net as it may help reduce your out-of-pocket costs once you reach a threshold.
How much does IVF cost in Queensland?
The cost of IVF in Queensland depends on the fertility clinic you work with, your specific health conditions and how many cycles you may need. If you require fertility treatment involving ICSI treatment or advanced scientific techniques, this may be more expensive than IVF treatments.
Can you pay a sperm donor in QLD?
No, it is illegal in Australia to pay for human tissue donation, including sperm. At Queensland Fertility Group, we have a dedicated donor program helping women and couples access donor sperm, eggs and embryos to create their family.
How much is one round of IVF?
At Queensland Fertility Group, an initial cycle of IVF costs around $11,640. However, if you have private health insurance and are eligible for medicare rebates, bulk bill options can help you reduce your out-of-pocket costs to approximately $5,997.30.
