Dr Kate Strawson

Dr. Kate Strawson is an experienced obstetrician and gynaecologist who is deeply passionate about empowering women to understand their bodies and make informed decisions that align with their unique needs, family goals, and lifestyles. She emphasises the importance of holistic and collaborative care, working alongside a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive support at every stage of life.

With expertise in minimally invasive surgery, Kate specialises in the treatment of endometriosis and laparoscopic hysterectomies. Her practice spans all aspects of women’s health, from adolescence to menopause. She provides preconception care, colposcopy, and consultations for abnormal Pap smears, with a particular focus on adolescent gynaecology and the management of pelvic pain.

As an obstetrician, Kate is committed to fostering a woman-centered approach to pregnancy and birth. She has extensive experience managing higher-risk pregnancies, including VBAC deliveries, multiple pregnancies, preterm births, and those complicated by medical conditions that require multidisciplinary care. Her training at tertiary centers has equipped her with the skills to support women through the challenges and joys of pregnancy.

Understanding that pregnancy and parenthood can be both exciting and overwhelming, Kate prioritises evidence-based, compassionate care to ease uncertainties and help families embrace this transformative journey. She finds great joy in supporting new parents and cherishes the privilege of sharing in their excitement.

In addition to her private practice, Kate holds public appointments at the Mater Mothers’ Hospital and Mater Hospital Springfield. She is a senior lecturer at the University of Queensland and an active member of the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy Society (AGES) and the Queensland Pelvic Pain Network (QPPPN).

A proud mother of three, Kate balances her professional life with her love for family. In her downtime, she enjoys sipping on good coffee, breathing in the ocean air, and playing in the garden with her children.
