Dr Sunthra Lingam has been providing dedicated gynaecology and fertility care to the Far North Queensland community since 2009. Originally trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Malaysia, where he earned his MBBS and Master of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (MOG), Dr Lingam expanded his expertise in Australia by completing a Master of Reproductive Medicine (MRepMed) and achieving Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG).
With extensive experience across the full spectrum of fertility care, Dr Lingam’s clinical interests include gynaecological imaging, complex infertility cases, and male infertility. His practice is grounded in empathy and individualised care—qualities shaped by his own personal experience with fertility treatment. This unique perspective enables him to provide compassionate support and understanding to patients navigating the emotional and medical challenges of their fertility journey.
In addition to his work with Queensland Fertility Group (QFG) in Cairns, Dr Lingam serves as a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Cairns Hospital. He is committed to delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care tailored to each individual or couple’s needs, helping them achieve the best possible outcomes on their path to parenthood.
Dr Lingam is fluent in Tamil and Malay, allowing him to provide care and communication in multiple languages for patients from diverse backgrounds.
